Contract Wars is a first person shooter browser MMO developed and published by AbsolutSoft. The game is set in an alternate universe where rules are made by those who possess military force. Contract Wars offers PvE and PvP content. There are more than 60 tasks to complete. A nice selection of available maps and different game modes pits players against each other in multiplayer battlegrounds. Max level hardcore content provides additional challenges. Characters are highly customizable with skills and weapons. Players are able to build unique soldiers thanks to the RPGish class system. The weapon selection numbers around 50 items. Weapons can be customized with more than 30 modifications. The extensive achievement system keeps players engaged.
Classes or roles are called skills. There are 6 Contract Wars skills, with Careerist being the default starting one. To unlock abilities from the other 5 skills players must spend skill points. These points are gained when leveling (ranking up). The current max level is 70. Better weapons and powerful abilities become available at higher ranks. Most of the weapons are bought using credits. This is an in game currency obtained by leveling up and completing various Contract Wars objectives. Like any other free to play MMO Contract Wars has premium currency. Contracts are tasks like kill a certain number of enemies, achieve combo kills and so on. The contracts reset daily so every day brings 3 new missions. Clans are Contract Wars guilds or alliances. The automatic clan apply request is a convenient feature. It allows players to send a message and apply for clan membership. Best Contract Wars clans have joining requirements so it’s better for new players to look for a lower level clan. Another useful feature is the weapon kit. This system permits players to predefine weapons sets and switch them while in combat. Weapons have attributes like damage, accuracy, ammo type, reload time, etc. Different situations (or roles) require different weapons and that’s where the weapon kit feature comes in handy.
Players join multiplayer scenarios by selecting a specific match from the game list. There are 5 game modes playable on 12 maps. The quick random match feature is nice if you don’t want to spend too much time looking for a game. Graphics are one Contract Wars feature that’s worth mentioning. It’s not Call of Duty but it’s still impressive for a game developed by an independent company. This Unity 3D fast paced free MMO is available as a no download app on social networks and gaming portals. Russian players have a few more options but the English speaking playerbase has to settle with Facebook and Kongregate for now. The developers are also planning a downloadable client for Contract Wars which will allow platform independent player interaction.
