City of Steam to re-launch in November as City of Steam: Arkadia
City of Steam developers admit the current game is not working, and plan to re-launch the title as City of Steam: Arkadia next month.
The free no download mmorpg has been bleeding heavily in subscribers since its recent launch, and there were talks of a total shutdown. Luckily, the makers decided to give it one more go, planning to pad City of Steam: Arkadia with fan-pleasing improvements and more content.
Of course, a re-birth will have its share of growing pains. Game operations for the Global English version will be stopped temporarily as developers improve the turn-based combat mmorpg.
"City of Steam will be upgraded during the time it is offline to better suit the player demographics of the new browser-gaming platforms publishing the game," said Mechanist Games in a statement on their official website.
Fans who return for the City of Steam re-launch this November will get "new content, new features, new systems, massive change to the economy and statistics, new equipment and cosmetics, new quests and an overhaul of most of the level art and main quests."
"There will also be a massive flying fortress for characters of any level to congregate in."
But developers were a bit vaguer on what features will be removed.
Another major change is the publishing method for City of Steam: Arkadia. Mechanist Games plans to self-publish the game and that it will cooperate with still-unnamed popular English browser-gaming platforms in order to re-energize its player base.
