Anarcus: The Neverending Battles is a free TCG MMO developed and published by ABG and Space Tomato. Gameplay mixes trading cards mechanics such as card collecting and deck building with strategic duels in a fictional setting with a fantasy theme. Anarcus is a pure PvP game that throws new players into the battle arena as soon as they create a user profile. Opponents take turns and battle using customized card decks. A match is divided in rounds and the player that wins most of the rounds is declared winner. In case of a tie, victory goes to the player with more HP.
Understanding Anarcus cards structure is the key to developing winning strategies. There’s no point in heading out to battle unprepared so players should be patient and take time to get familiar with cards stats before challenging other players because lost matches have a negative effect on general ranking. Anarcus has 5 types of cards: heroes, fighters, shields, actions and weapons. Heroes are some sort of army commanders that influence the behavior of other cards. Fighters are similar to unit cards in other TCG free browser games, fighters can be summoned and carried over multiple rounds. Shield cards give HP boosts for heroes. Action cards represent various events like buffing all friendly units and heroes or curses and debuffs for the enemy. If used right, action cards can turn the battle odds and completely change the outcome of an Anarcus match. Weapon cards are used to empower heroes with attack points and better damage. Fair gameplay and equal odds are crucial for balanced PvP and an enjoyable Anarcus experience and all these are achieved by implementing a system based on cards strengths and weaknesses. All cards have an info block that displays 3 characteristics: realm, side and nature. When building a deck it’s important to take these 3 stats into consideration because certain cards only work with cards of the same realm, side or nature. For example, it’s no use summoning an imp unit (hell affiliated) if the hero is from the realm of heaven.
At the beginning of an Anarcus match players must choose 4 heroes and place them on the table and 8 other cards are to be kept in hand. Each round the two opponents use fighters, actions, shields and weapons from the hand cards to aid the heroes that are placed on the table. Anarcus is a browser MMO that has very strict rules for playing hand cards: only one weapon card can be used at a time, action cards are placed in front of the hero, fighters have their own spot on the table and so on. Anarcus bazaar is the place where players gather to sell their cards or to buy new card packs.
