Alteil, developed and published by GP Core Edge, is a trading card browser game. Alteil is well known in Japan where was first released in 2004. It has a fantasy story and anime graphics. Alteil is one of the free browser games developed for both Microsoft Windows and MAC OSX users. New Alteil players receive a 50 cards booster pack. More cards can be acquired by playing daily mini games and winning duels. There is the alternative to buy Alteil cards as premium items. An Alteil match is fast paced and takes from 5 to 20 minutes to complete. It all depends on tactics, strategy and difficulty.
Players have 4 options when choosing the starting Alteil cards pack. Each choice represents an Alteil faction: Refess, Lawtia, Gowen, and Falkow. The story is different for each faction. Cards, units and spells also differ. Refess focuses on defense. Units have good HP, healing abilities and buffs. Lawtia has offensive spells. Players that choose Lawtia should keep in mind that timing (when to play a certain card to gain full advantage) is very important. Gowen has fire, nature spells and crowd control abilities. Falkow has non offensive special abilities and focuses on combos. All 4 choices are balanced so players don’t need to worry about gameplay balance. The starting pack contains 30 basic cards and 20 additional cards. This way, players have more play style options right from the start. Arena is the place where Alteil PvP fights take place. Alteil is not a MMO game where you encounter lots of other players but, you will always find someone willing to duel. After all, that’s the entire Alteil goal. There are no PvE missions, everything is about multiplayer. Alteil Arena has several modes. In single player arena, you can duel against computer AI. This is a good way to test new cards and try various strategies. If you have an Alteil buddy you should try the training arena. It’s the same thing as single player only you will be dueling against a human opponent. Training arena doesn’t count towards overall ranking.
Named servers are instanced Alteil arenas where players duel each other. The rewards include new cards, XP and money. There are several named servers. Each one has a specific level range. Players are matched depending on their level and rank. Alteil duels are turn based. Players have a limited amount of time to decide on their move so duels are fast paced. A match ends when the enemy reaches 0 HP, gives up or the turn time runs out. Just like MMO games, Alteil has guilds. Players that want to join an Alteil guild should check official forums.
